Her Original Bad Boy

Chapter One

Elizabeth Williams sat across from her Captain looking at the relatively thin file he had on his desk. His brow was furrowed and he looked lost in thought as his fingers worked the spine of the blue coloured cardboard.

“Williams, I’m going to read you in on something that’s been on my desk for almost a decade. In all that time I’ve never found the one key piece of information to put it to rest. Everything points to the theory that the whole east side is controlled by a single crime syndicate. Anything that happens east of the river, from the port in the south, to the industrial area in the north, drugs, prostitution, numbers, protection, all of it operates within the syndicate.” His brow furrowed as he spoke. “But every time it looks like we’re getting somewhere it doesn’t pan out. Leads go cold quick, too quick.”

“So who runs the syndicate?” Elizabeth asked as Captain Jamison handed her the folder.

“That’s the thing, after nearly 10 years we have no idea, not even a codename to go off.” Captain Jamison said. “Over the years we’ve chipped away at some of the low level operators but got nothing from them. They were either too scared to talk or they didn’t know anything above who they answered to.”

“So what do you want me to do?” Elizabeth asked with some trepidation.

“We recently raided a warehouse near the docks and found some correspondence and burner phones. The intel guys have gone through the material and have developed a list of names and locations. We don’t know yet if they are players or clients. Your part is to go through the file and see if you can make heads or tails of the data. We need to find a way inside.” Captain Jamison continued. “Williams, I am counting on you for this one. You are the best mind I have in here and your intuitiveness is your strongest asset!”

“No problem Captain, I’ll get on it. What kind of timeline are we talking about?” she asked.

“Yesterday,” he said stone faced, “seriously, we need to move on this information as soon as we can. Every day that passes makes the information less likely to be current and actionable. If you need some bodies to run down leads, run them by me. This needs to be kept on a need to know basis. And Williams, watch your back! A few years ago, in 2011, i finally had a guy ready to roll but then he mysteriously disappeared… I’m hoping a fresh set of eyes could help me finally nail them, and Williams you are the best I have!” Her captain looked serious, he rarely looked serious, but he was close to retirement and Elizabeth could sense him wanting to tie up loose ends and close this case so his mind would be at ease when he walked out of the squad room doors for the last time.

“No worries Captain.” Elizabeth said with a smile as she took the folder in her hand. The smile faded though as soon as she read one of the first names on the list. Luciano Calderone. She slowed her heart beat and steadied her hand. Surely it was not her Luca. As she read, she felt a feeling of dizziness over take her. It was him. There was no doubt about it. Had all the bullshit he spouted at her actually been true? Surely not!

“You ok Williams? You look like you’ve seen a ghost…” her Captain said trailing off as she looked up at him.

Elizabeth tried to clear her voice as she nodded and her mind flooded with memories.

Elizabeth had dated Luciano Calderone back in high school. But to her he was just Luca, a boy with a difficult past who played the tough connected guy. Always playing the little mafioso. But that was some 15 years ago now and the memories were foggy. A decade of using alcohol to forget the shit she dealt with at work does that to a person. All she could really remember now was that being with him had been exciting. He had been charming and protective. She clearly remembered that. No matter where they went she had always felt safe with him, that and he had made her feel like a princess, someone special. She had been his. She thought hard but she could not remember how they had ended. She could vaguely remember him “going away” somewhere. Juvie probably, she mused to herself.

Luca had been the first in a long line of bad boys. A long line of having her heart broken. Endless nights waiting for calls that never came and taking whatever scraps of attention were thrown in her direction. Those other bad boys had been different though. While they had often had Luca’s charisma and sense of danger they lacked his protective nature, but mostly they had never made her feel like a princess. Her dark knight had left her with a taste for danger that she could never seem to satisfy. So instead of being taken care of, she had spent the last 15 years with her walls up as she looked after everyone else around her.

Elizabeth slumped back in her chair as she pretended to continue to read the smidge of intel in the file. Her mind wandered as she thought wistfully just how nice it would be to have someone look after her for once. Elizabeth had a habit of attracting men who were either lost puppies in need of guidance or self centred cocky pricks who thought the world owed them something. She just could never seem to find a normal guy. Her friends told her it was because she didn’t want a relationship so she subconsciously found faulty goods. Her ‘relationships’ rarely lasted more than a few months before she did a runner. Elizabth never really did well being on her own but she also didn’t do well with relationships either it seemed. A Commitment Phobe is what her girlfriends called her. She really did need to start thinking of the possibility of finding a normal guy and settling down. That being said, she had been sort of seeing a guy, Nick, for the past three months or so. To her it was nothing serious, however, she wasn’t so sure he was taking it so casually.

“So?” her Captain’s voice broke up her pity party and she looked up at him closing the file.

“There is nothing in here but a list of names and some locations. I would hardly call this a lead, it is just what ifs and maybes.” She said pushing the file back across the table. Surely Luca could not be involved in this she thought to herself. The list must be client names she reasoned and surely Luca doesn’t know about the people he is dealing with.

“What I have is my gut and in four decades on the force it has rarely been wrong. There is something in there Williams. I just know you will come up with something.” He paused before looking up at her and pushing the file back across the table at her. “But i think the real question is what did you see in there that made you pause like that?”

Elizabeth gave her Captain a raised eyebrow. She had dropped her poker face for a split second but that was all a man like Captain Jamison needed. God he was good. She knew there was no point in trying to lie, the Captain’s lie detector skills far surpassed hers, he had, after all, taught her everything she knew. She took a deep breath before answering. “One of the names on the list belongs to one of my old high school boyfriends…” she trailed off as she looked at her Captain. She saw that glint in his eye turn into a sparkle and she knew what he was about to say before he even said it. “But I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be involved in something like this.” She chimed in quickly, a little too quickly she realised.

“Well maybe it is time you get back in touch and find out for sure.” The captain could barely contain his grin.

Elizabeth raised her eyebrow and looked him in the eye. “Surely this is some kind of conflict of interest, besides, he was always full of shit anyway!”

“My gut says otherwise Williams. But why don’t you prove me wrong. I know you would love that.” He pushed the file even closer to her with a smile that he was no longer trying to hide.

“Fine!” Elizabeth said with a roll of her eyes as she picked up the folder and headed back to her desk.

“Wait Williams! There is more.” The Captain said as he picked up an archive box from beside his desk and handed it to her. “This is everything I have on the syndicate. Good luck.”

Elizabeth spent the next few hours doing a preliminary analysis of the intel and reading through the intel in the box. Nothing! There was nothing on the surface but speculation and coincidences. She was going to have to take a look at this in more depth in the morning when her mind was fresh. Luca’s name kept coming up in relation to several different lists. He appeared to be a person of interest up until 2011. Then he became a ghost, not even a traffic ticket against his name.

Her phone vibrated. It was Nick. Nick was “nice.” Nick was safe and he met her needs for the time being. But did he excite her? No… Picking up her phone she looked at the time, 9pm, time to head home to her empty house. She swiped her finger across her phone and read his message.

Hey babe. Want some company tonight?

She sighed. She was drained and not in the mood to fake it tonight.

Still at work and not sure when I’m leaving. Sorry babe.

She texted back lying. She had barely put the phone down when it vibrated again.

Dinner tomorrow then?

Nick loved ridiculously expensive restaurants and Elizabeth loved that he always paid. Plus she was guaranteed a physically satisfying evening. Nick knew how to please her but their relationship was so very vanilla. It lacked a certain passion that she craved. Whilst her body was often satisfied her mind rarely was. She really needed to end things with Nick but it was just too convenient for her. She knew he was more invested and there was something about him that she couldn’t put her finger on, something that at times made her feel uneasy. She quelled her conscience by reassuring herself that she had clearly told him, right from the beginning, that she wanted nothing more than a friends with benefits arrangement. She had been clear that she was not at a stage in her life where she wanted anything more serious, he knew her career came first. She looked at her phone. Almost willing it to reply for her. Damn you Siri what are you good for she mused to herself.

Sure. See you tomorrow.

Yep Elizabeth Williams you are possibly going straight to hell for this one, she chastised herself.

See ya then babe. Sweet dreams when you get there.

Elizabeth shoved the file in her cabinet, shut down her computer and headed for the door. Once again she was the last one out. Even the Captain had gone home. She looked at his office, questioning herself whether her desire to sit in that seat was worth the sacrifices she had made.

There was no traffic on the way home. There never was at this time of the evening. She lived 80 kilometers out of the city limits in a small seaside town. Her little cottage sat on a few quiet acres. She enjoyed keeping strange hours. It meant her drive time was often halved. She thought about Luca on the way home. Time with him had never been boring or just plain nice. Nothing about that boy had been vanilla! She could still remember how he used to kiss her neck. Just the thought of it made her clit tingle. Elizabeth remembered how it practically made her purr when he did it. Turning her into putty in his hands. She wondered what his life had turned out like. Apparently he may have taken a path very different to hers.

Elizabeth pulled off the main road and headed down the drive to her cottage. She loved how far back the cottage was set on the property. It was secluded and away from the hussle and bussle of the city. Opening the front door she dropped her bag on the hallway table and headed straight for the liquor cabinet. She poured herself a double Jack Daniels. She opened the fridge only to remember she hadn’t been to the shops yet this week. She really sucked at the whole domestic thing. She grabbed her drink and headed to the couch. Turning the TV on, she kicked off her shoes and tucked her legs under her as she flicked through the guide. Her mind was racing and she couldn’t wait for the alcohol to kick in and slow it down. If Luca was who her boss thought he was, making that kind of a bust was a career maker. But could she do that to someone who had never done anything but treat her like a princess?

She downed the drink quickly and on her empty stomach it went straight to her head. Her mind started to cloud over, as the alcohol had its desired effect. She sat on the couch staring at the TV but not watching it. Pulling out her phone she opened the facebook app and typed in Luciano Calderone. Then there he was, a tatted up bad boy. She did the usual Facebook stalk but, his page was pretty private just a few photos. There was nothing of note from what she could access. Then, with the alcoholic buzz as her cheer squad, she took a step that she knew she could not return from unscathed. Her heart raced as she typed “facebook said i might know you”. Then she hit send, wondering if he would even reply. She didn’t have to wait long, within moments her phone vibrated. She half expected another ‘good night hope you got home safe’ message from Nick but no it was him! It was Luca.

Beth! How have you been?

No one had called her Beth since high school. Just his use of that name alone made her heart pound. Their messages flowed back and forth, catching up and reminiscing. It was as if the past 15 years had not passed. He certainly had not changed. He was still as charming and dangerous as ever. Just now the type of danger was potentially more real than it had been 15 years ago. Cass looked at the time. It was past midnight and she needed to get to sleep so she could get back to work early tomorrow. The conversation had just started to turn flirty and she wished she could just keep chatting to him. She felt like a school-girl again fighting to stay awake as she talked to her crush.

Sorry Luca but i need to be at work early tomorrow and if i don’t go to bed now I’m going to look

like serious crap tomorrow.

Elizabeth sent the message and unfolded herself off the couch and headed for her bedroom. She flung her phone on the bed before tiredly peeling off her clothes and throwing them in the hamper. It was cold and she quickly jumped naked into bed, curling up under the covers before picking up her phone. She smiled as she saw there was not one but two messages waiting for her.

Beautiful you could never look like crap!

The next message was a voice message. She pressed play. God his voice was still sexy as and it brought back so many memories. “So beautiful, what are you wearing?” then he laughed, his laugh was deep and sexy as hell “Sorry babe i couldn’t help that one.” Elizabeth laughed. He really had not changed.

Just my birthday suit 🙂

Elizabeth’s heart raced but her eyes were growing heavy.

Wish i was there…

Elizabeth could not help but grin at his message. She wanted to send him something quite naughty back but she really needed to sleep and she really needed to evaluate WHAT THE FUCK SHE WAS DOING!

Time for sleep before i need a cold shower. Great catching up!

Elizabeth was in the process of putting her phone into discrete mode when his response came through.

Sweet dreams beautiful. Talk tomorrow.

Talk tomorrow? He wanted to keep in contact with her! The thought made her smile as she slipped happily off to sleep.

It was 6am when her alarm went off. She had slept straight through without waking, a rarity for her. She felt strangely rested and the grin from last night was still there. Elizabeth looked at her phone and the smile faltered somewhat when there was no messages waiting for her. Elizabeth it is 6am in the morning not everyone is up this early she reminded herself. Plus he said chat tomorrow. Not tomorrow morning!

There was a certain bounce to her step as she pulled back the covers and made the quick cold naked run to the bathroom. Spring was almost over and whilst the days were warming up the mornings could still be bitterly cold. Turning on the heat lamp and the hot water tap she glanced at herself in the mirror as she waited for the water to heat up. The cold had her nipples hard and her full D breasts sat pert on her chest. Elizabeth’s once athletic build, had in her late twenties become more rounded and feminine. She had grown to love her new found curves as her work hours ate into her gym hours. Her waist was still small in comparison to her breasts and hips and she now loved her thighs, which were muscular from the little swimming she managed to fit in.

The room was starting to fill with steam as she slowly turned the cold tap on and, after testing the water, stepped into the shower. All she could think about was Luca. She had dreamt about him last night. About how he had made her feel when they were together. But more so how he had made her ache for him when they had been alone. Strong and domineering but with her pleasure always as his focus.

She reached up and took the shower head into her hand, bringing the jets across her body. As the jet hit her nipple it hardened again. Leaning back against the cold shower wall, goosebumps formed on her bare skin. Her sex ached as she imagined Luca was there with her, his fingers gently rolling her nipple between them as he possessively kissed her neck. His other hand in her hair pulling her head back, exposing her sensitive neck to him. Holding her in place, keeping her where he wanted her.

The jet of water danced across her other nipple. Her breasts again firm and at attention. It was as if the jets of water flowed from her nipple to her clit which was aching to be touched. She imagined Luca taking her nipple in his mouth and gently sucking before taking the tip between his teeth. Riding the fine line between pleasure and pain. Making her moan softly.

His feet moved between hers pushing her legs apart. Before trailing a finger softly down her belly to her sex. Her now wet and aching sex. His fingers delving into her wetness. Pulling it up and over her clit. Gently rubbing, just teasing her as his hand in her hair brought her face to his, her lips to his, as they locked together in a passionate and possessive kiss. His fingers pushing into her pussy, pulsating against her g-spot. She couldn’t help but moan into his mouth as her nails raked down his back.

Elizabeth dropped the shower head to her aching clit as she let the stream of water tease her. God it had been too long since she had been fucked. Sure she had had sex but she craved that unbridled passion! Just the thought of Luca had her body on fire.

Elizabeth could feel herself on the edge, ready to explode. But she wanted this to last a bit longer, savour it and intensify it.

Luca had her dripping wet and she could feel his thick hard cock pressed against her. She wanted him, no she needed him inside her. She began to protest as he removed his fingers from her. Luca bent down grabbing her ass before lifting her up. His strong arms holding her against the wall as she wrapped her legs around him. She could feel his hard cock pushing at the entrance to her sex. He looked up at her and deep into her eyes as he pushed his thick cock into her. Pausing momentarily to allow her to adjust to his size. Elizabeth arched her back exposing her neck to him. An invitation he greedily took. Biting her neck as he pumped his cock into her slowly at first, teasingly. Elizabeth was on the edge and he could sense it. Every stroke of his cock rubbed against her clit. Building her orgasm higher and higher until she slipped over the edge into total utter bliss. Her orgasm racked her whole body and the feeling of him throbbing inside her as she came, just prolonged it. He kissed her softly on the forehead before slipping from her and putting her down. Leaving her under the shower breathing heavy and barely able to stand.

Elizabeth’s mind finally cleared as her body came down from its physical, and mental, high.

“Hey Siri what time is it?” she yelled at her phone sitting on top of the bathroom vanity.

“It’s 6:55am. Good morning!” Siri answered.

“Fuck!” Elizabeth muttered under her breath. So much for an early start she muttered. Elizabeth was lucky, she was a natural beauty and getting ready never took her too long. She flew around her bathroom and bedroom like a whirlwind getting ready. She pulled on figure hugging jeans and plain knee high black boots, they had a killer heel which by far were not practical but they looked good. She always took the opportunity to wear them when she knew she would be at her desk most of the day. She pulled on a fitted black shirt that hugged her curves just enough to look feminine but remain professional. She looked at her hair in the mirror. Her hair, if left to its own devices, looked like she just stepped out of the surf. Or as her friend Laura loved to call it: the JBF look, just been fucked! For work she either wore it pulled back or dead straight. She liked to try keep some difference between her personal and work personas. No time to straighten it she thought as she pulled it back into a tight messy bun.

It was not till she had been in the car for 20 minutes before she remembered that A) it was Friday and B) she was having dinner with Nick. She contemplated turning around and grabbing a change of clothes but she was already running late. Fuck it! She thought as she opened her glove box and was happy to see that her small make up clutch was in there. She rarely wore makeup, but when she did it garnered a fair bit of attention. She often wondered just how bad she looked without it. But then she remembered she really didn’t care. As for her hair, maybe when she got to work she could see if she could make a hairdressers appointment. While she wasn’t exactly into Nick all that much she had to admit to herself that her ego loved the way he swooned over her, so why not give him something to swoon over she thought. She was also thankful that her bra and panties always matched.

She got to work just before 8am. There were already a few officers in the squad room as she walked to her desk. Her partner, Hank, was on leave for a few days which would leave her desk bound. Mainly because Hank was the only one who she trusted with her life. They had been partners for almost five years now and had the highest closure rate in the district.

Pulling her chair out Elizabeth sat at her desk and flicked the switch on her computer. As it booted up she contemplated whether instant coffee was going to do it for her this morning or if she needed a hit of the higher octane stuff. She was just about to grab her purse and head for the coffee shop when a coffee landed on her desk. She looked up at the bearer of the sacred life sustaining liquid only to see her Captain grinning down at her. He then casually sat in Hank’s seat across from her.

“Morning Williams. Figured since you are doing my dirty work I may as well fuel that brilliant mind of yours.” His voice was light and almost playful. This was a side of her Captain she had rarely seen.

“Well someone is in a good mood for a Friday…” she said as she cupped her coffee in her hands, breathing in the aroma. “Thank you.”

“What is there not to be in a good mood about Williams? I had dinner with the commissioner last night and we were discussing my retirement plan and who my potential successor might be.” He said the last part with a grin before getting up and heading to his office. He was a few steps away before he turned and came back to her desk. Placing his hands down on the desk he leaned in close and stated quietly to be sure that she was the only one to hear. “Williams, I gave you this as a present. Break this case open and it is a career mover.” He stood up and headed for his office without looking back.

Elizabeth knew how to read between the lines. Solve this case and she would be sitting in that chair. She had been working towards that goal for the past ten years, ever since she was a rookie. Now that it was potentially about to become a reality she was starting to question if it was actually worth it. So many things were running through her mind, it was only ten past eight and already she felt like she needed a drink. She took out her phone and texted Nick.

Morning. Tonight can we go somewhere low key with a good cocktail list and comfort food? I have a feeling I’m going to need it by the end of today! Hope your Friday is going better.

Morning babe. I think i might be in need of a little comfort food too after today! I know a great little italian place that should tick all the boxes. How does that sound? In court all day today so might not be able to respond till it breaks, but let me know and I will make the booking.

Elizabeth hated how he called her babe, babe screamed girlfriend to her. Italian? Yeah she could certainly do Italian. Then she remembered that one of Nick’s big cases was being finalised today. Nick was one of the prosecutors for the local District Attorney. That was how they had met. Part of her felt bad for not remembering.

Italian sounds perfect. Good luck today.

His response was quick.

Babe I don’t need luck! I will book it now. A good friend owns the joint and i have been dying to take you.

For someone so beige he was strangely cocky. Wait a friend? Nick had not yet introduced her to any of his friends. Lately Elizabeth had started to feel like he was trying to just pretend this was something more serious and then hope she didn’t notice the transition from friends with benefits to girlfriend. “Liz you really need to end this before it gets out of hand.” her inner voice chastised her. She needed to organise a girls night out to get drunk and talk all this crap through. Before she put her phone away she sent a group message out to her two best friends.

Girls night Saturday?

She pressed send and put her phone on discrete, face down, on her desk. She needed to concentrate on work for a while. This case was becoming more and more important. An opportunity to be Captain did not come around often, especially not to a woman in a still predominantly male dominated profession.

Elizabeth pulled the file out of her desk and started to input the data into an excel spreadsheet. Once the data was in she could start to try and make sense of it. Maybe pull out some patterns and make some sense out of all of these names and locations. And by locations all she had was GPS pinpoint locations from the burner phones and code names of locations from the correspondence. She was going to have to link the locations with their code names if this data was going to be of any use to her. Otherwise all they had was lists of names and places. Nothing that would validate a warrant being issued let alone result in a court conviction.

Elizabeth’s stomach growled at her and she looked at the time. It was 11.30 and she had gotten nowhere. She picked up her phone, the screen was full with message notifications. In her absence, her two best friends, had not only confirmed that a girls night was a great idea but had already organised it. The plan was to meet at Laura’s and then hit up one of the new bars in the city and then spend the night at Laura’s apartment in the city so they could all enjoy one too many cocktails. Laura was a total party girl, forever single but never alone. Jane, on the other hand, was like Elizabeth, career driven. Jane had organised for her husband to drop her in the city for the evening. Elizabeth smiled. Saturday night would be fun even if she did spend the whole of Sunday regretting her decision to drink.

Elizabeth was about to put her phone down when she realised she had a message from Luca. A smile spread across her face as she quickly opened the message which was time stamped from about an hour ago.

Hey beautiful. Hope I didn’t keep you up too late last night.

Elizabeth looked at her phone wondering how to reply. She knew she should be trying to exploit this for the intel potential that it was, but here she was thinking more along a very different line. Elizabeth convinced herself that showing interest in Luca was purely driven by her need to get answers, she was going undercover. That is all it was. The fact that he was good looking and charming… that was just a bonus…

Hey Luca, yea was not pretty this morning but TGIF!

She hit send and put her phone down. Her stomach was starting to interrogate her as to what she was going to be feeding it, since she ran out the door without making her lunch this morning. Her thought was interrupted as her phone vibrated. She was surprised it was Luca. He was certainly quick on the response. Her heart fluttered.

Haha! Hey how about dinner tonight?

Wow! Boy was he forward. Sure they had flirted last night but Elizabeth thought it had just been in good fun. Could he still be interested in her? Elizabeth found herself wishing she had not already made plans with Nick. Play hard to get girl, she told herself. You don’t want to seem too keen. But she needed to see him and talk to him. She needed to find out how much he was involved. Damn her curious mind, she knew it would not rest until she solved this whole mystery and she was quickly realising that that was not going to be achieved sitting in front of a computer. No she had to get out there in the field and do what she did best, make people talk!

Sorry but I already have plans tonight.

Saturday?

His response was lightning quick. He must be on his lunch break or something she thought. In all their chatting the night before neither had actually broached the subject of what they did for work.

Sorry. Just planned a girls night out in the city.

Lol busy girl.

Elizabeth realised it was now up to her. He had made two efforts and she had shot them both down. If she was going to do this there was no better time than now.

How about brunch Sunday?

Brunch was good. No alcohol involved and it was casual. Friends did brunch. She reassured herself that is all that he wanted. Just a friendly catch up. Who was she kidding! This was potentially much more than just a friendly catch up. For her it was the start of a subtle interrogation. Ask a few innocent questions here and there and see if the answers spiked her bullshit meter. For him? Maybe he was involved and maybe he knew who she was and he was also playing some angle. The idea of it excited and worried her. She would need to be on her best game with him and that meant strictly no alcohol around him. Alcohol tended to drop her guards and put cracks in her facade.

It’s a date! I know the perfect place. Let me know where I can pick you up from.

She loved the way he took control and how old school picking her up was.

Will let you know the address on Saturday night. Not sure where i will be Sunday morning…

She knew she would be at Laura’s but she wasn’t sure she wanted to be giving a potential mafioso her best friend’s address.

No worries babe. Enjoy your weekend and be safe.

Elizabeth felt her heart drop somewhat. She had hoped the random messages would continue through the day. She looked at her phone.

Will do. You too.

She kept checking her phone the rest of the afternoon as she worked. But it stayed silent. She continued to work with the data to no avail. It was becoming more and more apparent that this data alone was not going to get her anywhere.

It was about 4pm when she stood up from her desk and headed to her Captain’s office. She had an hour to spare before her hair appointment.

“Hey Captain” she said as she stuck her head in his door. “Got a moment?”

“Sure Williams” he said motioning to the seat in front of his desk. “How goes the research?”

“Not well Captain.” She said as she sat down. “The data is just that, data. It means nothing. I need to go talk to people.”

“Williams I told you this has the potential to be dangerous.” He looked genuinely concerned.

“Yea I know. I am meeting with Luca on Sunday for ‘brunch’ to feel him out. I trust him Captain, at least I trust him enough to know he won’t hurt me. Now that is my gut talking.”

“Williams, he isn’t the boy you dated in High School anymore.” Captain Jamison said, sounding more like her father than her Captain.

She leaned forward in the chair. “To be honest, I don’t feel comfortable with this whole, undercover, thing Captain.” Her mind had rationalised the situation as work, her adrenaline junkie was screaming at her to do it, but her intuition was telling her to run in the other direction.

“Williams you don’t have to do this you can walk away now.”

“I think it is too late for that now Captain.” Elizabeth said as she got up from the chair. “My curious mind needs answers.”

“Be safe Williams.” she heard Captain Jamison say as she headed out the door.
